Ten sources, one plugin. Every one of these is text with a tag around it.
Ten sources, one plugin. Every one of these is text with a tag around it.

Text in OBS is one font, one colour, one size. This is text you can actually design with.

Type what you want on screen, then wrap the bits you want to stand out in a tag. Colours, gradients, glows, Google Fonts, emotes, countdowns, animation. It all renders inside OBS, with no browser source and nothing to sign into.

Everything it does

Key features

  • Wrap text in a tag and it changes, so [b]this[/b] is bold and nothing else is
  • Tags stack, so one run of text can be bold, coloured, outlined and glowing at once
  • Gradients across your text, with as many colour stops as you like
  • Any font on your computer, or any Google Font, downloaded when you ask for it
  • Twitch, 7TV, BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ emotes and badges, inline with your text
  • Countdowns, clocks, dates and counters that keep running on their own
  • Animation: waves, typewriter, rainbow, glitch, fire, matrix and a dozen more
  • Point it at a text file and it updates when the file changes
  • Save a style once and reuse it, or change it everywhere at once with a variable
  • Shares its emote, badge and font cache with StreamUP Chat, so nothing downloads twice

Every knob, where you expect it

The editor opens with the source. Tags show up as chips as you type, so you can see the shape of what you have written, and every category is one click away down the side.

Font, colour, size, padding and line spacing for the whole source live on the left, so the tags are only for the parts you want to treat differently.

Write your text, and every tag becomes a chip you can see at a glance.

Things that keep running on their own

A countdown that ticks down and says something else when it hits zero. A clock in any format, in any timezone. Today's date, written out properly. A counter that climbs to a number.

Set it once and forget it. Nothing to wire up, no bot, no timer running somewhere else.

A countdown running on screen, with the message it shows at zero already set.

A live clock and today's date, in a font to match your stream.

Emotes and badges, inline

Drop an emote into your text by name and it appears where you put it, animated ones included. Twitch, 7TV, BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ.

Badges work the same way, so an alert can carry somebody's actual badges next to their name instead of a plain line of text.

A raid alert built out of badges, a gradient name and two emotes.

Patch notes

v0.0.5
  • Every tag shows as a rounded chip instead of raw brackets. Click one to select it, drag it to move it, double-click it to change its settings
  • Chips colour themselves so mistakes stand out. Red for a tag that does not exist, amber for one you have left open
  • Read from file moved into the editor, so a .txt can drive the source while your tags supply the look
  • The properties panel is a single Open ProText button now, and ProText gets its own icon in the Add Source list on OBS 32.2 and newer
  • Every StreamUP window resizes, and dragging one onto another monitor no longer leaves it blank
  • Fixed image links with spaces in the path, and a tag inside another tag showing as [OBJ]
v0.0.4
  • Type [ and every tag pops up, filtering as you type, closing tag included
  • Tag windows are live. Every slider drag and colour change shows in OBS as you make it
  • Our own colour picker, with a saturation square, hue strip, hex field and swatches
  • Gradient designer. Double-click [gradient] for a live bar, click to add stops and drag them about
  • The full Google Fonts catalogue, roughly 1900 families, shared with StreamUP Chat
  • [random] picks properly at random now, and never twice in a row. Use [sequence] for the old in-order behaviour
  • New Restart Animations button, to replay one-shot effects like [typewriter]
v0.0.3
  • Read your text from a file, picked up about a second after the file changes
  • Emote, badge and font cache now shared with StreamUP Chat
  • Editor text scale, for working on a 4K monitor
  • File picker on the image tag button
  • Fixes to typewriter, gradients inside metallic, and scrolling text
